August 25th, 2016 will mark the 100-year anniversary for the National Park Service, so in honor of this momentous occasion, Sheri Griffith River Expeditions will be launching several specialty trips—including extended floats down the Yampa, Green, and Colorado Rivers. Even more exciting, is the opportunity to get 2015 rates for 2016 dates through October 31st for all of our trips! During the 2016 season, we will be offering two extended rafting trips—the first, in the spring, will launch at Deer Lodge Park on the Yampa River in Dinosaur National Monument, continue down through the Uintah Basin, then complete our journey after traversing through Desolation Canyon on the Green River (12 days). The second extended trip, in the fall, will begin at the Green River State Park with 5 days of kayaking through Labyrinth Canyon, followed by 7 days of rafting through Stillwater Canyon, past the confluence of the Colorado and Green Rivers, and through Cataract Canyon (12 days). This second extended trip will allow you to see all four districts of Canyonlands National Park, the fourth being the river itself. This coming year we will also be launching a multi-day yoga trip. Date: May 10 5 Days/4 Nights Rate: $1799   2015 Adventure Recap As the daylight hours begin to wind down.... and the nights cool off, life at the Sheri Griffith Expeditions boatyard continues on. This summer season has been a busy one for our team. The Sheri Griffith Expeditions drivers have been on the road nonstop from North Wash to Sand Wash. The commissary crew has been pumping out food packs filled with steak, salmon, fresh fruit and all the sauces to tickle even the most advanced palate. Jose, Brenda, Kristl, and Emma have been constantly writing and rearranging the schedule to juggle all of the trips we have booked, often driving, guiding, and cooking to fill in the gaps. Our guides, many of whom had runs of 30+ consecutive days during the heat of the season, now have time off to heal cracked feet, wash the film of Lake Powell sediment off of their boats, and even take a some time to explore the hiking, climbing, and scenery around Moab. Our schedule filled quickly in the spring with guests excited to run the high-powered rapids on the Colorado River through Westwater Canyon and Cataract Canyon. After a fairly unexciting water forecast due to a smaller snow pack in the Colorado River basin this past winter, we ended up having a great water year with several weeks of sustained peak flows. The unrelenting spring and summer rains inundated us with quite a bit of water, much to the delight of Moab boatmen and many guests. With the water levels now finally dropping, we are running paddle boats regularly through Westwater Canyon, which features a full afternoon of splashy rapids and epic scenery.
